Strawberry Cheesecake quest bar macros & ingredients

Quest Bar Strawberry Cheesecake is a hidden gem in the nutritional department. It offers us 20g of protein, 4g of net carbs at just 160 calories, amazing. For it’s 60g size, it’s one of the highest protein, lowest carb and lowest calories protein bars in the marketplace.

The ingredient list is short and makes use of healthy ingredients, as Quest has so used to present us. Protein comes from a mix of whey protein isolate and milk protein isolate. There are almonds and dried strawberries sprinkled in the bar, which I found very little in the 12 box I own, it could be bad luck with batches. Very good ingredients in either case.

Taste: 5/10

Holding a Strawberry Cheesecake bar

I’m a bit disappointed with this bar. Some people report this tasting like strawberry fudge and although there are red speckles in the bar and a faint aroma to it, I don’t feel there is any cheesecake’ness to it.

You can’t expect to bite a bar and BOOM have all the promised flavors (cheesecake + strawberry) gorging in your mouth, you have to take time for some bars to settle their taste. But in this case, all the time in the world doesn’t help Quest’s Strawberry Cheesecake.

Strawberry cheesecake bar bite

It’s not hard to chew but it’ll stick to your teeth a bit, which you probably don’t mind. The sweet taste of it doesn’t pass as being cake.

If you heat the bar the strawberry taste is enchanced a bit. Having to heat a bar for taste-enchancing’s sake defeats the purpose of convenience and mobility of a protein bar, if you rely on them to have something portable at hand. Almost reminds me of a CPU processor that doesn’t ship out overclocked from the factory, but could. If you don’t mind this, then having the extra work of heating it will be worth it to make the Strawberry Cheesecake more appealing.

Also, this bar is free from chocolate. Chocolate has an overabuse (probably with reason) in the protein bar marketplace, but not everyone likes chocolate. Even those that do like it, they may get tired of chocolate being a current theme is every bar. Quest bar Strawberry Cheesecake is free from any chocolate and just has a bit of almonds in it for those sensitive to nuts.

Overall Rating: 6.5/10

This is one of those bars that can go either way. If you’re a protein bar&snacks freak like me, you want to get this, especially if you’re a compulsive collector and want to experiment all flavors of a brand (again, like me).

If you’re just a casual shopper, whether or not you like Quest bars (you’d be surprised at the amount of people who find it ‘meh’), then I’d skip this one. There are better and tastier alternatives.

Remember taste is subjective. This is my review. You may find that this is a bar you’d enjoy. I didn’t.

This bar does however have a great PLUS. It has only 160 calories. For a 60g bar with 20g of protein and just 4g of active carbs, this is one of those cost-effective-calorie bars, so you may stil want to get it for the macros.
