It looked like Christmas when these babies arrived, so I’m writing you a review for Grenade’s Carb Killa high protein bar.

Overall view

Hand holding protein barThe Grenade Carb Killa Charamel Chaos is described as a thick layer of caramel over a soft, chewy base filled with crunchy crispies all coated in milk chocolate.

The bar is baked using a special process to deliver an amazing taste, while preserving its outstanding macros, resulting in a soft, crunchy texture, combined with a sweet layer of caramel. It’s non GMO, Informed Sport approved and accredited.

The Grenade Carb Killa has 100 less calories compared to Grenade’s Reload Flapjack, a great flapjack in itself, already with 19g of protein, but at a calorie count of 304. Carb Killa has 23g of protein. It’s definitely a high protein bar, considering one bar is 60g.

Taste

Inside and outside look of Carb Killa protein barThe bar tastes just like a snack bar or candy you buy in the grocery store. The taste is similar to a toffee crisbar. It’s incredible how they are so low in carbs and high in protein.

Unlike other bars where you’re aware it’s a protein bar, this one tastes just like a real chocolate bar. It’s like eating a Snickers with amazing macros.

The crispies in the bar add to the product consistency, keeping the wow factor, and the chocolate and caramel combination are pretty intense in a good way.

PROS

Grenade Carb Killa Charamel ChaosGreat quality protein, derived from Milk Protein, which is of superior quality. Only Muscle Med’s Carnivor Bar can say it has a better source of protein (Beef Protein isolate).

This is one of those bars that is guaranteed to keep those chocolate cravings at bay, perfect for low carb diets, allow you to enjoy a clean treat without guilt.

This is probably the best protein bar on the market, macro and taste wise. Grenade’s Carb Killa Charamel Chaos has 23g of protein, 13.5g of carbs with 1.4g of those being sugar, for a total of 214 calories.

While there are other protein bars that are similar in macros (not many though), you’re hard pressed to find ANY that give you this candy bar sensation like Carb Zilla.

CONS

Soy beans with sproutUses some SOY. However, it’s not a lot. Look at the label of ingredients again, and I’ll tell you a little unknow secret. The first ingredients listed are more abundant, and as they go from left to right they become less abundant.

For example, the 1st ingredient is Milk Protein, so that is the major player in the bar, while the emulsifier (soy lecithin) may just have trace amounts. The bar does have quite a few SOY listed in the ingredients, so expect a certain amount. But at least the soy here is used mainly for the crispies, and not for protein, as it is an inferior source of protein.

This bar contain a lot of carbs.

Why is it not mentioned that this bar is not a carb killer, and the bar contain a lot of carbs?
It contain maltitol and lactose and 22.5 gram carbs per 100 gram bar which is not even close to being low.

    1. Lars, Carb Killa is a 60g bar (not 100). It does contain 10.6 of polyols (sugar alcohol) and 6.7g of fibre per bar. These are not counted for carb count, making it 1.5g of impact/net carbs.
