Grenade Carb Killa Fudge Brownie is a protein bar with 215 calories, 23g of protein and 1.5g of sugar.
Fudge Brownie is the 3rd flavour of Grenade’s Carb Killa protein bar. The 1st was Caramel Chaos, after five months the 2nd flavour, Cookies & Cream was released, then after three more months, Grenade launched Fudge Brownie.
It’s a high protein bar, low carb, using a special baking process to give it a soft, crunchy texture. The bars have been informed sport approved and credit, so they should be good quality.
Macros & Ingredients: 8/10
This is a high protein bar, low carb and high on fibre, with only 1.5 of impact carbs. Impact carbs, also called net or active carbs, are all the carbs that are not fibre or sugar alcohols (also called polyols).

Just 1.5g of carbs
So on Fudge Brownie, we have 6.8g of Fibre, 10.9g of polyols and 1.5g of sugar. Both fibre content and polyols don’t count towards carb count, so we’re left with 1.5g of carbs, which are basically the 1.5g of sugar, a terrific low amount for a protein bar, especially one that tastes wonderfully as this one.
No guilt treat
What’s great about Grenade’s Fudge Brownie is that you don’t need to struggle with cravings on your diet (especially if you’re low carb’ing), and just bite into this treat without guilt or shame.
Many people are usually too stoic with their diets, sometimes borderline compulsive, so go ahead, have a treat, you deserve it.
Soy, sucralose and sugar alcohols
There is soy and sucralose listed in the ingredients, things I really don’t like. Soy is mainly used for the crispy pieces, as they were chosen because it gives the pieces a crunchy feeling. Sucralose is used to sweeten the bar. A better choice would be sugar alcohols like xylitol or erythritol.
There’s actually maltitol, a sugar alcohol, that is used to sweeten the chocolate coating. I’d still prefer a different polyol than Maltitol, as it has 75% of the sweeteness of sugar, but 75% of the blood sugar impact of sugar. It’s basic advantage is having less calories than sugar.
It has low amounts of soy and sucralose though. How do I know? Look at the list of ingredients again.
From left to right (and top to bottom), more of that particular ingredient is on the bar. So Milk Protein is present in bigger quantities than Milk Chocolate, and so on. Soy is in lower quantities, as it’s from the middle of the list below. As you go down and right in the list of ingredients, less of that particular ingredients is present.
As her two younger siblings (Caramel Chaos and Cookies & Cream), Fudge Brownie tastes like a candy bar, minus all the sugars, carbs and hard to spell ingredients.
Real milk chocolate
The bar is coated in real milk chocolate and has a triple layer of goodiness inside.
On top, you bite through a layer of crunchy crispies, followed by another thin but delicious layer of creme caramel and are welcomed by a very smooth and rich fudge brownie base.
Crunchy and soft
Crunching through the top pieces it’s how the bar welcomes you before surprising you with the caramel. The distinction of the crunchy semi-hard top pieces followed by the soft creme caramel is surprisingly enticing.
After those two, you get to the third layer, which is the rich core with fudge brownie, which makes up for most of the bar.
The creamy-creme caramel
The layer of caramel on Fudge Brownie is a creme-ish yellow, while the original Caramel Chaos has a dark orange look to it, and Cookies & Cream’s caramel is darker still, a dark brown.
The lighter caramel is a pleasing colour contrast with the darker brownie core.
Overall rating: 8/10
Fudge Brownie is a 60g protein bar with 215 calories, 23.3g protein, 8g fat and just 1.5g of active carbs.
Grenade’s Carb Killa Fudge Brownie is a protein bar with a soft nougat brownie centre, topped by a layer of caramel with crunchy crispy pieces coated in milk chocolate.
What’s so great about Fudge Bronwnie
It has great macros and still manages to taste like snickers.
Two negatives: soy and sucralose
Soy is used for the crunchy crispies and as an emulsifier. It’s sweetened with sucralose, a poor choice of a sweetener. It would be better to use good sugar alcohols such as Erythritol (zero glycemic index and 0.2 cal/g) or Xylitol (which is actually good for your teeth, an ingredient in toothpastes).
Go ahead, you deserve it
But don’t let this discourage you for this protein bar. If you’re done with being Stoic, give yourself a treat, you deserve it.
