Muscle Pharm launched their own version of lower carb and high fibre in competition with Quest bars… with their multi-layer baked Combat Crunch Cinnamon Twist protein bar, coated in a chocolate and crunchy outher shell. Packing 20g of protein in 210 calories, 12g of fibre, low in sugar, gluten free and active carbs in a soft baked texture, Muscle Pharm gives us a great tasting alternative and addition to the low-carb protein bar crowd.

Cinnamon Twist macros and ingredients

Macros: 9/10

The cinnamon twist only has 210 calories, comes in with 20g of protein and 12g of fiber, making it a lower carb bar, like Quest bars and Oh Yeah Victory/Low Carb. The high fiber count and reasonably low calorie count makes for really good macros.

Ingredients: 8/10

The list of ingedients isn’t the most natural I’ve seen but it’s not too long either. Sodium levels are much lower than the chocolate chip cookie and the peanut butter cup (460mg), while the cinnamon twist sits at 159mg.

Taste: 8/10

The cinnamon twist tastes just like a cinnamon bun. By the end it was tasting a bit too sweet (I’m not a sweet tooth though). It reminds me of a pop tart, and iced cinnamon cookies. The taste can get a bit overwhelming due to the strength of the cinnamon but this may actually be a good thing if you enjoy cinnamon.

Overall rating: 8/10

The cinnamon twist is a great treat at any hour of the day. The white chocolate exterior combines well with the soft inside. These bars are great for keeping you full and fueled. It’s my favourite so far of the Combat Crunch line.

Ooh, looks yummy. I imagine (and hope) it tastes like Cinnamon Toast Crunch, that cereal I find the most difficult to put down :.P

Aside from that, I am all over cookie dough and birthday cake flavors. I have been burned by too many bad renditions of “cookies n’ cream” to be willing to try again. Ever. Apparently, it’s a flavor all too easy to f up and get wrong?

    1. It’s one of the best I’ve had, it has that cinnamon taste without being overwhelming.

I hear you on the cookies n’cream. The worst I’ve come across so far was Muscletech’s Mission 1 cookies and cream. Overall the bars aren’t really any good, except for their macros, with the possible exception of their Brownie. Don’t put this one on the microware, or it’ll lose that chocolatey smell.

What cookies and cream bars/cookies do you like?
